Maid Marian of Knighton’s life was a very simple, happy one. Her mother had died early on and she was raised as the center of her father's world. The child raised by a nurse, a Sheriff, and an entire shire, she was sweet, compassionate, inquisitive, mischievous, and, whether it was black berry pies, a friendly face, or to learn something new, she hardly wanted for anything.

Five years ago her world changed irrevocably. Her fiancé, Robin of Locksley, chose to abandon her and followed King Richard to the Crusades in the Holy Land. Her father's bid for Sherriff was denied by King John and another man, dark and sinister, was placed in his stead. The lands of all Nottingham lost their sunshine and lives to his spider-like fingers and all-seeing eyes.

Lady Marian, not content to sit and embroider as the world grew dark, took her fathers’ training and became their defense—giving them food, medicine, and shield from soldiers—all beneath the mask of the Night Watchman. A clever politician, she toes Sherriff Vasey’s line for the sake of her father, trying not to bend, or break, as he ails more each year.

Robin, fresh from the Holy Lands, has returned and carries with him a refusal to toe the line she’s so carefully drawn, which cast him quickly into Sherwood Forest and outlawry. But neither of these is as dangerous as the gift he bestows daily upon all Nottingham, herself included— Hope.



Marian has been known through out time as the ‘Maid’ of Robin Hood legends and the Queen of May. She has represented many things in all her incarnations from early ballads to the present day screenings, most importantly—chastity, compassion, religion, patience, rebellion, and love.

This version of Marian is courageous, loyal, head-strong, feisty, and often has a no-nonsense opinion about things around her. While the events of her life have eroded parts of her gentleness, they have left untouched her generosity of spirit and keen sense of duty.

I do not own Marian or any of the Robin Hood universe mentioned herein. They belong to history and a large assortment of sundry authors who've written their ballads and tales; last, but not least, the BBC. I am using Marian for the fun of playing in milliways_bar. Marian's Milliways (milliways_bar) room is 334, which has a Lily on the door. Marian's House of Arch (house_of_arch) room in The Friend's Wing has a painting of great emerald forest. Marian will always (unless otherwise noted by narration) being wearing both a silver Security Badge (ways_office) and a golden necklace, baring two charms: a thick golden roaring lion ring, and a thin glass locket, edged in gold, holding a four lead clover.
